Sigma Kappa Sorority WINS Homecoming Competition for the 3rd time in a Row! During November 9-15th, the members of Epsilon Beta competed in various Homecoming competitions and festivities with other student and Greek organizations such as a banner competition for the University Center, a spirit stick competition, banner for the gym, black light basketball, a pep-rally, a mocktail competition (make non-alcoholic drinks), sidewalk chalk competition, bonfires, and the UNO Men and Women's Basketball games! The Sigma Kappa members showed strong and continuous spirit and enthusiasm throughout the week and the hard work and effort paid off when the Student Activities Council announced after the basketball game that Sigma Kappa placed first overall in the homecoming events! Sigma Kappa placed first last year and are excited about retaining the title for another year! Shannon Zorn, a junior and a member of Sigma Kappa, was named to the 2008 Homecoming Court for the second time. Congratulations Shannon!
The theme was UNO Celebrates 50 Years as UNO Privateers played the South Carolina Wolfpack. Sigma Kappas dressed up at the basketball game as privateers with Lafitte the alligator mascot in a big birthday cake which was a big hit with the crowd. ABC News Channel 26 and WWLTV Channel 4 included in their evening sports newscast video footage of the Sigma Kappas at the game.

Sigmas with their UNO Greek Advisor At the UNO Greek Awards Ceremony with the awards

Congratulations to Epsilon Beta for receiving a 3 Star of Excellence Award at the 2009 Collegiate Awards Ceremony held this past
summer in Indiana for the 2008 school year (spring and fall 2008). The Stars of Excellence is the Sorority's rating system for all of the
Sigma Kappa Chapters. The chapter also received the Alice Hersey Wick Award which is presented to any chapter, large or small, on
any sized campus that tried to cooperate in every way with any national officer, project, etc. The chapter supported all national projects, as
well as had a strong recruitment effort this past year. The chapter received a framed award for placing 3rd in the most money raised for the
Sigma Kappa Foundation per member with the Edna Brown Dreyfus Award. This is the first time in Epsilon Beta history that the chapter
received a 3 Star of Excellence Award. The chapter received a Star of Excellence Award last year. Some photos of the chapter delegates
who attended the ceremony in Indiana with Sigma Kappa National Officers can be seen on our SPRING 2009 ALBUM
