Sigma Kappa's Philanthropies

Alzheimer's Disease
In 1984 Sigma Kappa responded to
an increasingly critical problem facing
older Americans by adding
Alzheimer's Disease research and
education to its philanthropic
activities. Research grants are made
each year to universities and other
institutions actively engaged in the
fight against Alzheimer's Disease.

Epsilon Beta's Philanthropies on Campus

Dear Fellow UNO Students,

Sigma Kappa Sorority is very excited about holding our 2nd Annual Kickball Tournament, Kick in the Grass, to benefit
our philanthropy, Alzheimer’s disease research!  It is taking place on Saturday, April 12th on the intramural field next to
the Newman Center at noon. Please come out to help support our philanthropy and have a blast playing kickball
against the other UNO student teams!  The first and second place teams will receive an award, and the first place team’
s organization will have a discounted registration fee for the 2009 tournament.

A little bit about Alzheimer’s Disease
More than 5 million Americans now have Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer's destroys brain cells, causing problems with
memory, thinking and behavior severe enough to affect work, lifelong hobbies or social life. Alzheimer’s gets worse
over time, and it is fatal. Today it is the seventh-leading cause of death in the United States.
We all know someone that is affected by Alzheimer’s disease and if it is a family member it is emotionally painful. Sigma
Kappa is striving for a cure and asking for your help.

You can contact
unosigmakappa@yahoo.com for any further questions regarding the event.  Registration packets can
also be turned into any Sigma Kappa.

If you are unable to attend and would still like to donate to Alzheimer’s disease research you may present a check to
any Sigma Kappa sister which will in turn be given to Sigma Kappa Foundation for Gerontology. Please make checks
payable to “Sigma Kappa”.

Hope to see you there!

Sincerely,
The Sisters of Sigma Kappa Sorority
Kick In The Grass
